OpenAI Tests Its GPT-3 Language Generator Through A Private Beta Release

Updated: Feb 24, 2023

OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company based in San Francisco. It developed its latest version of its AI-powered language generator called GPT-3, a publication tool which when fed only with a handful of words can generate articles, short stories and even poetry that in many cases convincingly conveys facts, answers and writing styles. OpenAI has begun testing this tool with a select group of users through a private beta release, and the results thus far have been positive. GPT-3 is an autoregressive language model with 175 billion parameters, which OpenAI claims is ten times more than any previous non-sparse language model. This allows GPT-3 to achieve remarkable results in many translation, question-answer and text generation tasks with no fine-tuning using only a small amount of training data. Although there are some commentators that argue GPT-3 still has significant blind spots, the tool is set for commercial release later this calendar year.
